Muzzleloading or other Black Powder firearms must also be unloaded. Handguns and large-capacity firearms left unattended in a vehicle must be unloaded and kept in a locked case, locked trunk or other secure container. But generally speaking, all rifles and shotguns must be unloaded when in a motor vehicle. Transporting a firearm in a vehicle: The same licensing restrictions on ownership of various firearms applies to transportation of such guns. Hunters are also prohibited from discharging a firearm within 150 feet of such a road. Even when hunting, a person is not permitted to carry such a firearm within 500 feet of a building or dwelling in use without the owners or occupants permission.
